The BMW Car Club Gauteng is gearing up for two of the biggest events they stage, and they both take place at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit a week apart!

The first is on Sunday 22 October at the BMW M Festival where the BMW Concours, the most prestigious event in the club’s calendar, will bring out the best classic BMWs in the province. Concours is a competition where cars are judged on their condition as well as their preparation. The idea is that the car must be in the same condition as when it left the showroom, and as clean as it was when leaving the production line. The cars you are likely to see are nothing short of spectacular, priceless and irreplaceable specimens, including iconic BMW race cars both past and present. Tickets for the BMW M Festival can be bought at www.bmwmfestival.co.za
On Saturday 28 October, the club hosts its annual Track and Race day sponsored by Bridgestone, Auto Bavaria Midrand and Shell Helix. This is where you will be able to see some of the fastest BMW road and race cars take to the track in full flight. There is something for the ladies too- lady racer Monica Van Der Westhuizen will be taking ladies for hot laps around the circuit for just R200. It includes a set of Pink Valve Caps and some branded clothing and all funds raised will be donated to PinkDrive. PinkDrive is a Bridgestone initiative geared towards breast cancer awareness and treatment. Hot laps with a professional driver are open to the public too in the latest BMW M products. The Gaming Network is also on board offering runs on their racing simulator, with the fastest on the day receiving a cash prize of R500.
The highlight of the day will be the club’s race series putting on an exhibition race in a handicap pursuit format. The slowest car starts first and the fastest last with only 8 laps to catch and pass the leader. You will also be able to see the latest BMWs on display from Auto Bavaria Midrand, purchase BMW Lifestyle and BMW Car Club clothing and accessories, find out more about Shell Helix lubricants or just get up close to the cars and meet the drivers. The event kicks off at 07:30 AM and there is no entry fee at the gate.
