Botha wins Hallspeed Rally

The final rally of the so-called S2000 era in South African Rallying, the Hallspeed Rally was won by Luke Botha in a S2000 Ford Fiesta. The event started in Bronkhorstpruit yesterday and finished there this afternoon. It was seventh and final round of the SA National Rally Championship for 2016.

tombstoneIt was also the final rally to be run in its current format with a new 2WD rally championship being planned for next year.

Botha won the event with a time of 1:36:00.0 after completing the eight stages. His S2000 was the only S2000 or NRC4 car left in the event.

Second overall was the current 2016 S1600 champion, Guy Botteril in a Yato Toyota Etios R2+4:00.8 behind Botha. Marko Himmel as third in a similar car +4:37.2. he was followed by Richard Leeke in a Ford FiestaR2 +4:39.5 and AC Potgieter in a Volkswagen PoloR2 +5:56.3.
