Having recently marked the second year anniversary since Schumacher suffered a skiing accident that left him with serious head injuries, Mercedes led the messages to its former driver who turned 47 at the weekend while Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso also posted heartfelt posts on social media.

The F1 legend was seriously injured in a skiing accident in the French Alps in December 2013 and after several months in hospital he has been continuing his rehabilitation at home. Schumacher’s condition has never been officially detailed while his family aim to maintain his privacy.

Last month, Schumacher’s manager Sabine Kehm was forced to deny reports in the German media that he was able to walk again and said the stories were ‘irresponsible’ for giving people ‘false hope’.
