World championship event winner Sordo was on duty to demonstrate the Hyundai i20 R5 to potential customers and made it through the rain-hit stages with the final podium place, albeit by a slender 0.3s in a thrilling final-stage decider with Miroslav Jakeš.
Afterwards Kopecký, who claimed the FIA European Rally Championship title in 2013, praised Sordo for his performance.
“It was really good because for him it was his first experience of this rally,” said Kopecký, a seven-time winner in Zlín. I have done this rally and if I remember all good drivers when they are here for the first time, they were much worse than Dani. In these conditions he did a really amazing job.”
