Marquez and Vinales favourites to win MotoGP title

This MotoGP pre-season is making one thing very clear: there are just two drivers who will fight for this title – Maverick Vinales and Marc Marquez. It is difficult to choose just a particular favourite at the moment, since one is faster but the other is more consistant. “It seems that both of us are one step ahead of the others and it will be fun,” said Vinales.

However, there has been some resentment both on and off the track; when Vinales was doing his first long run, looking for the right rhythm with Marquez trailing his every move.

“I knew what he was doing,” Vinales said. “He marked me the entire time.

“I did not want to stop but the next day, I will make a long run and it will be my turn to bother him a bit.”

The Yamaha newcomer is the type of driver who does not forget easily, although, and there will be some consequences.

“It’s hard to push forward when you have Marc or Valentino behind you,” he continued.

“It’s beautiful. This motivation, this fight is beautiful.”

However, Marquez was smarter in evaluating his move.

“It is always interesting to ride behind a Yamaha, especialy to see different things, and it doesn’t have any strong point in particular, but it’s very complete,” he said.

As a result, Maverick went on to score six laps in 1:28, ahead of Marc’s five.

Marquez achieved some of those times in his longest round (of 14 laps), whereas Vinales completed 45 laps on the day at a time of 1:29 against 1:41 from the current champion.

It was an impressive display from the two Spanish Moto GP stars
