Max Verstappen slammed by Nico Rosberg as ex-F1 star makes brutal Sebastian Vettel comment

Max Verstappen had a race to forget in Belgium as Sebastian Vettel was trounced by Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc. Nico Rosberg has criticised Red Bull driver Verstappen for being too aggressive at the start of the Belgian Grand Prix.

The Dutchman collided with Kimi Raikkonen at the first corner before going flat out into the barriers despite his car already being broken. Rosberg believes it was a poor showing for Verstappen in front of a lot of fan

“Verstappen was back to his old self a little bit,” Rosberg said on his Youtube channel.

“He has balls of steel but that didn’t make an awful lot of sense.”

Rosberg also made some concerning comments regarding Vettel and the fact he was made to let Leclerc through.

“Poor Vettel, he was like a Barrichello in that race, just waving past your teammate and helping him out,” Rosberg added.

“Amazing for a four-time world champion.

“Let’s see how that plays out for Vettel, but he won’t be too happy with that, that’s for sure.”

Rosberg also heaped praise on Charles Leclerc after he picked up his first ever race victory at Spa.

“Awesome job! He’s driving so well this year,” he said.

“I think this is going to be a really really important breakthrough for him mentally, and getting that first win just gives you so much confidence as a driver, so he’s going to get another step.

“He’s on it, he just feels so good with that car.”

F1 return this weekend in Monza as Ferrari will look to win again at the Italian Grand Prix.

Lights out will be at 2.10pm UK time.
