Traditionally the team has completed a full filming day and shakedown at the home of the British Grand Prix, with media and partners present. This time the team has confirmed it will run as a private event without the presence of media, with images of the car to be released online on the same day as the shakedown.
The car — the Mercedes-AMG F1 W10 EQ Power+ to give it its full name — will be running five days before the start of pre-season testing on February 18, and on the same day that Racing Point unveils its new identity at the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto.
Mercedes adds: “To celebrate the tenth modern-day Mercedes F1 car, we will provide fans with insights about the new car and the upcoming season on our social media channels in the days leading up to the shakedown day.”
Since the introduction of the V6 turbo power units in 2014, Mercedes has won all five constructors’ and drivers’ championship doubles, wrapping up both titles before the end of the season last year.
Other confirmed launch dates are Toro Rosso on February 11, Renault on February 12, McLaren on February 14 ahead of Ferrari the following day, while Sauber will roll out in the pit lane ahead of the first day of testing.
