Mercedes unveils Formula E car at Geneva Motor Show

Mercedes has unveiled its inaugural Formula E car during the 89th International Motor Show in Geneva, which is set to compete in the 2019/20 season.

The EQ Silver Arrow 01 unveiled on Monday features a special “teaser livery” to give an idea of the final design, with a final livery to be presented ahead of the season-opener in December.
“The Mercedes-Benz EQ Silver Arrow 01 teaser car gives a foretaste of the first all-electric Silver Arrow from Mercedes-Benz,” commented Gorden Wagener, chief design officer at Daimler AG.

“Blue accents and the subtle contrast between matt and gloss in conjunction with the star pattern at the rear of the vehicle stage the progressive luxury in electric motorsport.”
The livery reflects that of their Formula 1 team, though with a darker shade of grey. Running all the way from the front to the rear, is a horizontal blue line symbolising Mercedes’ electric EQ brand, which is similar to the PETRONAS green on the Mercedes-AMG W10.

Mercedes’ head of motorsport Toto Wolff welcomed the unveiling and says the German manufacturer is ready for a new challenge.
“The countdown to our entry into Formula E has now officially begun,” said Wolff. “Our team has obviously been working behind the scenes on this project for quite a while now, but when you see the car in our teaser livery for the first time, you know that the project has entered a serious phase.”

“Formula E is going to be a completely new playing field for us. But we are looking forward to the challenge of demonstrating the performance of our intelligent battery-electric drives in motorsport and of giving a positive boost to the EQ brand.”
