Renault, Red Bull tweak names ahead of 2019

At Renault, the team will go from Renault Sport Formula One Team to simply Renault F1 Team. The change takes immediate effect, with Renault saying its intention is to “strengthen the link that has existed for more than 40 years between Renault and Formula 1.”

Alongside the name change comes a slight change in team logo too, moving more in line with the French manufacturer’s car brand.

“This new logo is more compact and more readable. Renault’s Losange — the diamond emblem — is now directly associated to the team name without any separation.”

Renault had been Red Bull’s long-term engine supplier, but following a breakdown in relations Red Bull had agreed a sponsorship deal that saw the power units named after watchmaker TAG Heuer rather than Renault since 2016. However, with Honda becoming Red Bull supplier from 2019 onward, that naming deal will end.

Red Bull still retains TAG Heuer as its official timekeeper and watch partner until 2021 as part of an extended partnership, but will carry the Honda name on its car from next season, with the 2019 car set to named the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing-Honda RB15.
