|Former South African A1GP driver Stephen Simpson will be jumping on a plane heading for Austin, Texas this week for the next round of the TUDOR United Sports Car Championship. Simpson has been racing the LMPC Prototype Sports Car in all but two of the races this season. This weekend’s race is at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) race track where the US Formula 1 GP will take place next month.It has been a busy couple of months for Simpson.
Along with his own career, heis developing and mentoring a select few up and coming race car drivers wanting to make an international career in motor sport. Simpson is especially focused on developing the careers of talented South African race car drivers wanting to make the move overseas.
Coming off a great podium finish at the last race at Road America, Simpson and the team are heading to Austin feeling confident and eager to repeat the success of the previous race.
Simpson explained “The team have been working hard over the last few weeks in an effort to continue improving and making the car quicker and I am excited to get back at it this weekend at this fantastic venue”
Simpson will be driving with his regular team mate, Chris Miller as the drivers and team tackle the 2h 45 minute penultimate round of the Championship.
Track action starts on Thursday afternoon with qualifications on Friday and the race on Saturday.
