SLR plans greater focus on racing next year

Not content with just finishing third in the World Touring Car Championship in his debut season, Sebastien Loeb is getting even more heavily involved in the series next year – by running his own customer team of C-Elysees.

Loeb will continue to drive for the factory squad, partnered once more by Jose Maria Lopez and Yvan Muller (who finished first and second in the championship respectively).

But there will also be two additional C-Elysees next year for customers, run by Sebastien Loeb Racing.

“Entrusting the two private Citroen C-Elysee WTCCs to SLR was an obvious choice,” pointed Citroen Racing’s team principal Yves Matton. “The two cars will be good-as-new reconditioned 2014 chassis, complete with all the developments we introduce next season. It’s now up to the team to finalise its agreements as far as its drivers are concerned, but we are all working together to make it possible for Ma Qing Hua to continue his FIA WTCC career with Citroen. His performances have shown that he deserves the chance to race a full season in 2015.”

So that is one seat practically accounted for – and the second one is set to be filled by Moroccan racer Mehdi Benani.
