Giovinazzi has to watch out for young talent
Antonio Giovinazzi’s Alfa Romeo seat is up for discussion, but Schumacher is not the only Ferrari-junior doing well on the way to Formula 1. He has competition from Robert Schwartzman, Callum Illott and Marcus Armstrong. Especially for Schwartzman Schumacher has to be careful. The young Russian won the Formula 3 championship last year and has already won two races in F2.
Red Bull Racing advisor also sees Schwartzman’s talent: “He is intelligent, fast and good with the tyres, very special. If I were Ferrari I would put him in the Alfa next year”, the Austrian says to F1-Insider.
Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto is satisfied with Mick Schumacher’s progress: “Mick drives well, better than last year. It is important that he shows progress in his second Formula 2 season. In Hungary he has performed well, but it is still too early to make decisions for next year.”
Schumacher himself says his intention is to become one of the top Formula 2 drivers. His uncle Ralf Schumacher says the expectations for Mick are high. “He also expects a lot from himself. He’s doing well and is getting better and better.”
